Home insurance
What is home insurance?Home insurance is a form of property insurance that covers private households. The policy combines multiple protections, which can include the loss of its contents, loss of its use (for example additional living costs), loss of other possessions, and liability insurance in case of any accidents which occur inside the home.
Why is home insurance necessary?Everyone is at risk of bad things occurring; therefore we need to be able to protect ourselves in the event that they do. It is definitely worth spending money on, as if an incident did happen and the property was not covered by insurance, it could be far more expensive for the homeowner to fix. Examples include flood or storm damage, fires, and burglary, to name a few. Shocking figures suggest that in the UK, 1 out of 3 of us will be burgled at some point in our lives, and only 25% of houses are not protected by any type of home insurance. Mortgage lenders will ask that you have buildings insurance in order to borrow from them. They also request information such as any flood risks the property may have.
